Some guy has made his own GPU, complete with Windows drivers. FuryGPU has 1990s-vintage capabilities (plus modern display interfaces and drivers) and can run games like Quake in better than real time. This story’s human hero is Dylan Barrie. On his own, he accomplished what would’ve occupied a small design team back in the day. The silicon hero is the AMD (Xilinx) Zynq UltraScale+ (the latter brand designating its 16 nm technology) with which Dylan implements his design. Hat tip to Tom’s Hardware.
