Thanks for reading this and my other notes. Extra gratitude to those who have signed up for my newsletter. Looking at the list, I think I know half of you; thanks all! It has grown slower than I would like (I’m running out of supportive friends!), but I’m happy it’s growing at all. I’ve hit my first milestone and am 20% of the way to the next and 1% of the way to my goal. Here’s a hint at what I’m planning to do next and a request for you to send me ideas.
For those who haven’t signed up, I can’t blame you for trying to keep your inbox slim. The newsletter is simply a list of the most recent notes. I’m committed to sending no more than one email per calendar week. Other than the newsletter, my main outreach has been through LinkedIn, which I’m not keen on being dependent on.
My next step is to add a news aggregator and discussion board similar to Hacker News, but this will be separate from the main XPU page. I have some other notions in the idea hopper, too. Let me know your ideas by messaging me via my contact form. Once I hit my next milestone, I’ll have to implement features to generate revenue to pay for the site and email service. My goal is to keep this unintrusive, particularly for charter newsletter subscribers.
One revenue option would be to offer commercial services, such as reports and consulting. My initial thought was to perform empirical testing to explain why X is better than Y, supplemented by paper analysis beyond what XPU offers now. I would sell mostly to corporate subscribers. Let me know what you think by using the contact form. (If you know my email address, you can use it.)
In the near term, in further recognition of hitting my first milestone, ask me anything. (Again, please use the contact form.) If I get enough (any), I’ll post the questions and my answers.
JB
